After I reviewed God Loves Me More Than That in January, I couldn’t resist the chance to add another book to my Auntie Collection! Especially because when I saw God Gave Us the World, the pictures reminded me about one of my favorite books as a little girl that told stories of a little bear, and I thought perhaps my nephew Josiah might like the little bears as much as I did.
God Gave Us the World isn’t by the same author as the last children’s book I reviewed, and I’m not sure I actually liked it quite as much. The style wasn’t quite as flowing and I’m not personally very fond of using even basic slang in children’s books, just because I think it is better to learn to read and speak as properly as possible at first, but the story about the little cub who learns about how God created each one around this whole wide world unique and yet so perfect and so special is written in a sweet and simple way and the art work is especially cute, if you like little bears!
I also had to smile about the way they worked in the importance of caring for our our planet and sharing with siblings.
Since this books is written from a polar bear cub’s perspective, I’m not sure that my nephew will relate much to the world of ice and snow that it talks about, being a little tropical baby who may never, ever see anything like snow! But perhaps it’ll bring back memories of happy times to his mommy who shared so many exciting adventures with me in our Alaskan Childhood, even though we didn’t live far enough north to have to worry about polar bears stopping by!
In any case, I hope that he’ll always know that no matter what, we are all loved by our wonderful Creator.
